FEDERAL WAY — The Columbia River boys soccer team came a long way to return to the top.

The Rapids lost their season opener to R.A. Long way back on March 11.

River would never lose again.

The last of their 22 victories came Saturday at Federal Way Memorial Stadium, where the Rapids beat North Kitsap 4-1 for the Class 2A state championship.

“Just an overwhelming feeling of happiness is through all of us right now,” senior defender Connor Orr said. “We worked so hard for this moment. To finally achieve this goal that we worked so hard for. Coming back from losing our first game of the year to now hoisting that cup, that trophy, is just incredible.”
