Kern County Animal Services (KCAS) will participate in the second annual California Adopt-a-Pet Day on Saturday, June 7. The event, hosted by the California Animal Welfare Association, the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and the ASPCA, will see more than 150 animal shelters across California offering fee-waived adoptions.

Last year's inaugural event was a significant success, with 3,609 animals adopted in a single day, surpassing the initial goal of 2,024 adoptions. This year, organizers have set an ambitious target of finding homes for 5,000 dogs, cats, horses, and other small animals.

To support this effort, the ASPCA will cover the cost of most adoptions statewide.
