SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The City of San Diego is making new additions to its beach accessibility wheelchair program.

Beachgoers with accessibility needs will be able to use Freedom Trax and Access Trax equipment, city officials announced Thursday.

Freedom Trax, a motorized device that attaches to a personal wheelchair, provides the ability to navigate through the sand. Access Trax are portable mats that allow for easier access throughout the beach.

Both options are free of charge and on a first-come, first-served reservation basis during program hours. The Beach Wheelchair Program office can be found near the Mission Beach Lifeguard Station.
