The runs were piling up for Bridgehampton/Ross in the third inning at Cantine Field. When the Killer Bees were done, they had pushed across half a dozen in the rally — the first six in the state Class C Southeast Regional semifinal against Burke Catholic.
But then Bridgehampton/Ross stopped scoring and the Eagles started scoring.
And they didn’t stop until they owned a walk-off, 7-6 win in eight innings Thursday in Saugerties.
“Section IX’s got really good baseball,” Bridgehampton/Ross coach Lou Liberatore said. “We knew that they weren’t going to go away. They’re a championship-caliber team . . . We didn’t fall asleep at the wheel. They worked their way back into the game. Unfortunately, we couldn’t push across another run and create some distance.”
