NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Downed powerlines Thursday led to Amtrak and Metro-North suspending New Haven train services.

According to Amtrak Northeast, downed power lines south of Bridgeport have impacted trains traveling in the Northeast corridor.

As a result, train service between New Haven, or NHV, and New York Penn Station, or NYP, is currently suspended. Officials noted that lengthy delays are expected for the rest of the night, as crews work to restore service.

Metro-North Railroad said their New Haven Line service was suspended between the Green's Farms train station in Westport and Union Station in New Haven "because of a power issue near Westport."
