A Missouri representative for Cole and Miller counties has launched his campaign for the state Senate.

Rudy Veit, a Republican from Wardsville, currently represents the 59th district in the Missouri House of Representatives and will reach his term limit next year. He was elected in 2018; representatives can serve four, two-year terms.

Veit will launch his campaign for Senate District 6 from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday at Berry Barn Farm, according to his campaign Facebook page .

Mike Bernskoetter, R-Jefferson City, currently represents the Sixth District and is term-limited.

The Sixth District encompasses Camden, Cole, Miller, Morgan and Moniteau counties.

Veit, on his campaign Facebook page, calls himself a constitutional conservative, a defender of the Second Amendment and a "family man."
