Omaha Police implementing new traffic barriers during College World Series

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A First Alert to traffic changes coming to the College World Series.

This year, Omaha Police will shut down roads near Charles Schwab Field during games.

They’re also adding new barriers to block traffic.

“If [the barriers] are struck by a vehicle, they tip over and in essence go underneath the vehicle and lift it up which stops its forward momentum,” OPD Capt. Mark Desler said. “They’re as safe as they can be when they stop a vehicle.”

Desler said the barriers will be located at the intersections of Mike Fahey Street at 10th and 14th streets, and on 13th Street at Cass and Cuming streets.
