PEND OREILLE COUNTY, Wash. -- Starting Friday, outdoor rule (debris) burning is banned in Pend Oreille County.

According to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, burning with a permit is allowed but subject to the conditions on the permit.

Campfires are allowed at designated campgrounds.

DNR says recreational fires on improved property will be allowed when campfires are allowed in designated campgrounds if the recreational fire meet the following criteria:

It is attended to at all times.

It is no larger than 3 feet by 3 feet and no taller than 2 feet.

A charged hose or five gallons of water and a shovel is present.

There is a fire break of at least three feet around the fire.

The use of gas and propane stoves and barbecues will still be allowed.
