HOMEWOOD, Ala. —

Thursday morning, Jennifer Andress became the first person to enter the mayoral race in Homewood. If she is elected, she will be the city's first female mayor.

Andress is currently serving her second term as the city council representative for Ward 5. She also serves as the chair for the planning and zoning committee and holds a seat on the city's special issues and liaison to legislative committees.

Andress stated that, if elected, engaging with residents will be a top priority.
