ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - As people across St. Louis continue the clean-up process following the May 16 tornado, disaster relief funding is making its way through Jefferson City.

Early Thursday morning, Missouri senators approved an appropriations bill that will provide over $100 million in aid for St. Louis City in the aftermath of the tornado.

The measure still must be approved by the Missouri House before it can go into effect. All appropriations bills take effect on July 1, but the aid could be enacted sooner, if Governor Mike Kehoe signs the bill before then.

“Going into the special session, the only thing I was asking myself was how much relief can I get for the city of St. Louis, and we walked away with a huge win,” said Sen. Steve Roberts.
