AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The third annual "Race a Cop" event is set to take place at the Amarillo Dragway on Friday, June 14, giving the public a chance to take on local law enforcement on the racetrack.

According to Student Crime Stoppers of Amarillo Inc., gates are set to open at 6 p.m., with “Test N Tune” runs scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m., followed by roll racing from 9 to 11 p.m. The event is presented by Amarillo Crime Stoppers, Student Crime Stoppers, and the Amarillo Police Department.

General admission is $10, while kids 12 and under get in free. First responders can attend at no cost with a valid ID. Racing tech cards are available for $25.

Organizers say the event is aimed at building community trust while providing a safe, fun environment for racing enthusiasts of all ages
