MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. — As National Donut Day is celebrated across the United States on Friday, a local effort will deliver 700 donuts to military veterans in Connecticut .

The Salvation Army and Lyman Orchards are partnering to make hundreds of donut donations to veterans at VA hospitals across the state.

Each veteran will also get a box of tea from Bigelow Tea. The special blend of tea was created specifically for them to celebrate their service, a Salvation Army release says.

The donuts will be distributed on Friday at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Rocky Hill, the Newington Veterans Medical Center and the Veterans Medical Center in West Haven.
