LAMOURE COUNTY, N.D. (KVRR) — A North Dakota farmer is suing the federal government for violating the terms of a wetlands easement from years ago.
Cody Peterson filed the lawsuit back in April claiming that the decades-old easement is not specific to the areas and labeling small depressions as part of a wetland.
Peterson states in his case the Fish and Wildlife Service map has prevented him from farming nearly half of his farmland.
Pacific Legal Foundation has been working with Peterson and has heard of dozens of other farmers from Minnesota to South Dakota who’ve had similar issues and have had charges filed against them.
