AUSTIN, Texas — Members of the Austin City Council have taken a step to overhaul a program meant to address affordable housing.
On Thursday, city leaders approved a resolution to give the city room to rework how the city balances heights, affordability and development incentives under its Density Bonus 90, or DB 90, program.
"DB90 seems to be wiping, in some cases, naturally occurring affordable housing," said Viney Camorlinga of Acacia Cliffs.
Carmorlinga was at council alongside other residents of the apartment complex in northwest Austin, which is set to be torn down and redeveloped .
Council members are set to take a vote on whether the developer will be allowed to move forward with the project. At the time of publication, people were testifying before council members.
