LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. — The Los Angeles County medical examiner has released the cause of death of a Houston-born celebrity hairstylist who unexpectedly passed away earlier this year.

Jesus Guerrero was 34 years old when the medical examiner said he died of a form of pneumonia called pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia and a fungal infection called disseminated cryptococcus neoformans .

The National Institutes of Health said that pneumocystosis is believed to be airborne transmitted from person to person. The health institute said most cryptococcus exposure comes from soil and bird droppings.

NIH said both most commonly affect people who are immunocompromised. The medical examiner listed a secondary cause of death as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, or AIDS.
