MOORHEAD — Tobias Johansen’s face lit up with a smile as he took his new bike for a test ride around the parking lot of Salem Evangelical Free Church.
Tobias, a student at Ellen Hopkins Elementary, was just one kid who picked out a refurbished bike at a bike distribution event hosted by Boaz Bike Ministry. The group held the Thursday evening, June 5 event for Ellen Hopkins Elementary students.
“It’s so smooth,” Tobias said as he zipped around on the bike.
Tobias’s mother, Ally Johansen, said her son didn’t have a bike. She also found a tiny balance bike for her 1 1⁄2-year-old daughter.
“Physical fitness is really important in our house because the kids need to use their energy,” she said.
