KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - It’s a moment a metro area mother will never forget.

“I can still remember he was about three months old and being home with all three of my kids and a St. Jude’s commercial being on TV, and saying to someone, ‘Oh my God, please turn that off - that’s just too sad. I can’t look at it,” said Kristin Myers-Trysla. “And never in my wildest dreams did I think three months later I’d be walking the hall with my baby.”

It is a mother’s worst nightmare - her 1-year-old son diagnosed with stage-4 brain cancer.

“His cancer was so rare, only one child in the entire United States was diagnosed with this type of cancer under the age of 1,” Myers-Trysla noted.

And only one hospital could treat it - St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis .
