FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The foreign national who allegedly escaped from custody in Fresno County and is "possibly connected to Tren de Aragua" was charged on Thursday.
Deputies say Helan Lopez-Sanchez escaped custody after being arrested and accused of being involved in a string of armed robberies across the Central Valley in 2024. They believe the 32-year-old Salvadoran may have a connection with a foreign criminal gang and described him as having a history of violence.
“Detectives have developed information that has led us to believe that these individuals are possibly connected to Tren de Aragua, TDA, which is also known as a violent criminal street gang,” Sheriff John Zanoni said.
