(WKYT) - If you’ve been outside, you may have noticed it’s a lot noisier than usual. That’s because we’ve had billions of cicadas emerge from the ground in our region.

They are very annoying, whether you are just trying to enjoy summer in Kentucky or have to work outside. It’s enough to bug you. One example is construction workers.

“It’s been a little bit of a problem for us. It seems like the guys are pestered by them a lot. The high frequencies of the concrete saws running throughout the day. It seems like the bright colors draw them a lot. Actually, I’ve had the guys call me and try bug spray and different things and it doesn’t repel them,” said Robert Beldon, owner of Beldon Concrete.
