Concerns were mounting Thursday regarding the condition and whereabouts of a 68-year-old member of the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians, whose disappearance prompted a statewide alert.

Bruce Arrietta of Banning was last seen on the afternoon of May 18 in the area of East Porter and Hargrave streets, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency posted a “Feather Alert” to notify area law enforcement agencies Arrietta was missing. Feather alerts stem from missing persons investigations related specifically to indigenous people in California.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is handling the search for Arrietta, who was described as “at-risk,” though no other details were provided.
