BOSTON —

Boston police arrested 13 suspects on Wednesday, in what they called "an operation to address sexual exploitation."

Police said members of the department's Human Trafficking Unit and Internet Crimes Against Children Unit conducted an operation to combat the sexual exploitation of women.

Officers, joined by members of the Massachusetts State Police Special Services Section High Risk Victims Squad and the FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, said they conducted the operation in the area of Massachusetts Avenue near the South Bay Mall.

Police said undercover officers helped identify exploiters, traffickers and sex buyers, in an effort to help curb exploitation within the area.
