AUSTELL, Ga. — A North Carolina man is accused of violently attacking three sworn officers inside Georgia’s Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (POST) headquarters in Austell Monday morning — a facility tasked with setting training and certification standards for the state’s law enforcement agencies.

According to arrest warrants, the incident unfolded around 11:30 a.m. Monday on the second floor of the building which houses POST headquarters and the Austell Police Department on the third floor.

Police said Alex Ross entered POST headquarters to discuss his certification status.

His POST file showed he started in 2019 as a jailer with the Walton County Sheriff's Office, before he became a deputy sheriff for the department in 2020. His file showed he voluntarily resigned and
