CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators identified two new suspects in the Catawba County mass shooting that killed one person and injured 11 others over the weekend.
Izaiah Kane Mitchell, 18, and Zachary Micheal Bates, 22, are both wanted for attempted first-degree murder. Shortly after 3:30 p.m., deputies announced that Bates was arrested. Mitchell remains on the loose and is considered armed and dangerous.
Bates' arrest now means that five people have been arrested in connection with the shooting, while two other suspects remain on the loose. Garon Nathaniel Killian was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder.
