COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) — Get ready for classic South Carolina heat today!

Highs in the low 90s combined with humid conditions will push heat index values up to the mid and upper 90s this afternoon.

Saturday will be even toastier with highs in the low to mid 90s and heat index values as high as the low 100s.

Warm, muggy weather is here to stay Sunday through virtually all of next week.

The one thing that could cool us off is some stormy weather, and we have several chances at just that in the extended forecast.

Chances are most of the Midlands will stay dry today, but an isolated strong storm or two isn't out of the question.

Thunderstorms look to be a bit more likely late on Saturday, and even more likely on Sunday.
