LAUREL, Md. (DC News Now) -- The Laurel Police Department (LPD) officers and special needs Olympic athletes laced up their running shoes Thursday morning for a great cause.
LPD held its 25th annual law enforcement torch run. Laurel Mayor Keith Sydnor said the event always united the city.
“I feel great about this, it is wonderful for the city, and we are an all-inclusive city. Every year our citizens come out and our employees come out and support it. Living in Laurel, working in Laurel and we support this and it is great for us and we look forward to this every year and we are going to continue these the next 40 years as well,” Sydnor said.
The event got under at 10 a.m. and the runners jogged through the streets of Laurel and made stops at City Hall and Laurel Elementary School.
