CEDAR HILL, Texas — The Cedar Hill ISD Board of Trustees named a lone finalist for the district's superintendent position.

The board named Dr. Maria Gamell as the last candidate standing during its Thursday board meeting.

According to CHISD, Gamell has 24 years of experience in education; most recently serving as Chief Human Resources Officer for Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD in Tarrant County. Before that role, Dr. Gamell also served as a principal.

The district said Gamell was selected following "an extensive search and interview process."
