WARD COUNTY — An elderly man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Thursday, June 5.

An 80-year-old man from Douglas, N.D., was driving 2022 John Deere side-by-side utility vehicle west along 359th Avenue Southwest at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday, according to a report from the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

About a mile from Douglas, a 2014 Kenworth cement truck driven by a 68-year-old man from Minot caught up with the UTV. As the cement truck went to pass, the UTV made a left turn onto 156th Street Southwest.

The cement truck hit the UTV, pushing the side-by-side into the north ditch while the cement truck tipped over onto the driver's side of the vehicle before sliding into the roadway, blocking both lanes of traffic.
