Severe storms caused flooding around Butler Thursday, June 5, leading to multiple calls for occupied vehicles caught in the deluge Thursday evening.
In addition, scanner reports indicate that Team 300, Butler County’s dedicated water rescue team, was called for vehicles trapped in flood waters. Vehicles stuck in flood waters were reported on in the 200 block of West Penn Street, on North Washington Street near the YMCA and near the intersection of East Jefferson and South Monroe streets.
The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Butler County. It was in effect until 6:15 p.m.
Impacted locations included Butler, Homeacre-Lyndora, Shanor-Northvue, Meridian, Meadowood, Oak Hills, Nixon, Chicora and East Butler.
