HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. (WCJB) - A tied vote among High Springs city commissioners has stalled a move to repeal a decades-old alcohol ordinance, one brewery owners say is costing the city revenue and residents.
During Thursday night’s meeting, commissioners voted 2–2 on a motion to repeal the ordinance restricting alcohol sales inside city limits without a special permit. The ordinance also limits non-restaurant businesses, like breweries, from selling alcohol on Sundays. Commissioners instead directed city staff to return with compromise recommendations, including potentially requiring breweries to be spaced at least 200 yards apart.
