SUPERIOR — Sophomore Alden Marsolek recounted the many sleepless nights that followed Duluth Marshall's devastating back-to-back losses to Esko in the 2024 Section 7AA final.
This year, Marsolek and the top-seeded Hilltoppers turned heartbreak into triumph with a 6-3 victory over No. 3 seed Proctor in the Section 7AA championship, Thursday night, at NBC Spartan Sports Complex.
After coming painfully close the year prior, Marsolek was overjoyed to come out on top this time around.
“The words just aren’t there,” he said after logging all seven innings on the mound for the Hilltoppers. “It’s all because of these guys — it’s not a one-man effort, it’s a team effort, and we come out here and we win, and we’re just dogs.”
