NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. (KTIV) - Two years ago, a local fire department lost space for their routine training.

Now, the department has opened up a new training facility to ensure firefighters are prepared and ready for any emergency.

Thursday, the North Sioux City Fire Department held an open house to show the community the new training facility.

In the past, the department would hold trainings on the dead-end street in front of their building. But two years ago, the city connected the street to Streeter Drive.

That forced the department to find a new place to train.

Now, the department can train in the large facility using props and simulations year-round.
