ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - An Alpharetta woman was granted bond by an immigration judge and has been released from the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Daniela Landin was detained in May and first held in a Georgia detention center, then suddenly moved to a Texas facility, according to her family.
“Today is a day to celebrate the big news, so we’re giving them the space to do that,” Jorge Gavilanes, her immigration attorney, said. “Then as soon as she’s back at home and established again, then we’ll continue the conversation of what’s next.”
Landin originally came to the United States from Colombia seeking asylum. According to Gavilanes, she was in removal proceedings, with an appeal pending.
