The European Commission (EC) has recently made waves in the global aviation industry, as they have updated the EU Air Safety List. According to a ch-aviation report, the new list excludes all carriers certified in Suriname and Tanzania, banning flights into the EU from those countries. According to Brussels, aviation authorities in Suriname and Tanzania do not ensure sufficient safety oversight.

The new list was updated on June 3, and now includes 36 companies from Tanzania and nine from Suriname. In total, there are 169 airlines on the list, with 142 carriers originating from 17 countries having been banned due to concerns
