EAU CLAIRE ( WQOW) - Eau Claire Ambassadors have been walking downtown for three months now picking up trash, giving directions, and helping people experiencing homelessness.
"It's about 25,000 steps a day," said Stephney Brick, operations manager of the program.
The Eau Claire Ambassadors, recognized by their bright yellow shirts, walk the downtown area with the goal of meeting people where they are.
"We're trying to build relationships down here and build, the biggest thing for us is trust," Brick said.
The Ambassadors are with the company Block By Block and contracted by the city. They are on the streets 6 days per week and about 12 hours per day. They visit the parking ramps, shelters, Wilson Park, and more places meeting the people experiencing homelessness downtown.
