BLUE ASH, Ohio (WKRC) - Police in Blue Ash were again encouraging drivers to use steering wheel locks.

This is after they see an increase in a certain type of car theft.

Police said they are seeing Kias and Hyundais still being the main target.

After a brief pause in car thefts, Blue Ash police said it's time to be back on alert.

Kia and Hyundai owners especially.

"Our post is primarily because that seems to be a higher target vehicle. However, I would take precautions with every car. Lots of people tend to leave their vehicles unlocked and have items that are visible," said Blue Ash Police Lt. Pete Ballauer.

A few years ago, Kia and Hyundai were getting hit by people hacking into their cars.

After a big push, many of those vehicles have an anti-theft software upgrade.
