SAPULPA — Despite objections from both the federal Department of Homeland Security and the Oklahoma Legislature, State Superintendent Ryan Walters reiterated Thursday night that he wants information about the cost of providing a public education to undocumented students.
“You are owed transparency from government,” said Walters, speaking to about 30 people at the Creek County Republican Party’s June meeting. “You are owed an explanation as to how your tax dollars are spent. I am going to continue to fight to give you a clear number of how much it’s costing you and your family and how much it is costing our school systems.”
