The Nazareth Area High School softball team ’s season was down to its last strike on Monday in the PIAA Class 6A first round before senior second baseman Alina Weaver blasted a home run to help the Blue Eagles beat North Penn.

On Thursday night in the state quarterfinals, Nazareth didn’t rally when facing its final strike, but the Blue Eagles earned another nail-biting victory to secure a spot in the 6A final four.

Nazareth scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to break a tie and then held off a charging District 3 champion Cumberland Valley in the bottom of the final frame for a 5-4 win at Pine Grove Area High School.
