MINNEAPOLIS — The Minneapolis City Council voted unanimously to have the city auditor review the police department's involvement in a federal raid on a Mexican restaurant Tuesday, which sparked protests in South Minneapolis.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara has said MPD wasn't involved in planning or executing that federal search warrant, but said they were called in to control a crowd that became unruly. Those crowds formed after word spread that ICE agents were present.
Local leaders have said the raid had nothing to do with immigration enforcement, but local activists in a press conference outside Mayor Frey's office Thursday say that doesn't matter.
