WENDELL, N.C. (WNCN) — A Wendell woman was arrested Thursday after several animals were found neglected at a home a week earlier, deputies said.

According to the Wake County Sheriff's Office, deputies were asked on May 27 to investigate reported animal neglect at a home in the 2500 block of Edgemont Road near Wendell at the request of Wake County Animal Control.

Deputies said they found dogs, cats, five chickens, bearded dragons, ducklings, a ferret, a turtle, and geckos at the home.

A lizard was euthanized as a result of a skin disease. The rest of the animals are expected to recover after they were treated, according to the sheriff's office.

Following an investigation, deputies said they charged 28-year-old Catlyn Kristain Conway with 25 counts of misdemeanor cruelty to animals.
