GADSDEN, Ala. ( WBRC ) - If you’ve lived in Alabama for long you know that bear sightings aren’t unheard of, especially for our neighbors in the more northern parts of our state.
James Sweezy is the owner of Nuisance Wildlife Control. He says if you come face-to-face with a bear the first thing to remember is stay calm because they’re afraid of you too.
“They’re not going to stay here. We don’t have the food source here for them. They need acres and acres and acres of miles, actually of territory, to build a forage and find food and everything,” said Sweezy.
“The city is actually aware of some bear sightings up here at Noccalula Falls, the Scenic Drive area. Bears are part of nature up in this part of the world,” said John Moore with the City of Gadsden.
