HAMILTON, N.C. (WITN) - Hamilton residents are continuing to recount the moments following a deadly standoff that took place Tuesday into Wednesday morning.
The standoff happened on North Front Street, across from town hall in what one deputy said was the old mayor’s office.
Sheriff’s office radio traffic reported the driver of pickup truck was intoxicated and had a shotgun. Authorities have yet to release the man’s name.
One witness who recorded the standoff tells WITN that the scene was very out of the ordinary, with police yelling out orders to the individual inside.
“I was actually several blocks down the street and I kept hearing this noise, you know someone talking really loud,” Lisa Hering said. “I could hear everything the officer was saying, he was telling the guy to come out,
