President Donald Trump issued a proclamation Wednesday banning or restricting travel from citizens in 19 countries, citing national security concerns.
Bans were placed on 12 countries, while restrictions were placed on the remaining seven. The order goes into effect Monday at 12:01 a.m.
The bans and restrictions impact countries in several regions of the world, mainly in Africa. Seven countries in Africa will have bans imposed, while three will have restrictions.
During his first term, four major executive actions were issued by Trump. At least 15 countries were issued travel bans or restrictions during his first time in office. By the last proclamation issued in January 2020 , there were 13 countries with travel bans or restrictions in place.
Nine of the countries
