Washington ― President Donald Trump's budget request for next year would support the Flint Lead Exposure Registry and Great Lakes cleanup projects, but slash spending for Army Corps construction and harbor dredging and eliminate the heating assistance program for low-income households.

Trump's 2026 proposal serves as a starting point for negotiations with lawmakers and will likely change as the Republican-controlled Congress reviews it. A detailed spending plan for the Department of Defense hasn't yet been revealed.
