The Florida Department of Transportation has completed a sea wall project along a 1.3-mile stretch of A1A in Flagler County, extending into Volusia County, to protect the area from hurricane damage while preserving its scenic beauty.

Chris Barone from FDOT said, "And for the maintaining agency for A1A, we are rocking it."

The project was deemed necessary after Hurricanes Ian and Nicole severely impacted Florida's beaches, flattening parts of the dunes and leaving stretches of A1A in need of restoration. The sea wall is buried under tons of sand, with restored dunes using native landscaping and new walkways leading to the beach.

Barone highlighted the importance of the project, saying, "That was significant impact to our community, or visitors and our businesses."
