Wastewater Superintendent Amy A. Lowell reviewed the latest design changes and next steps for Phase 1 of the Great Pond with the members of the Water Quality Management Committee on Wednesday , June 4 . The goal is to have construction contracts awarded in November, she said, with work on the project to begin soon thereafter.

The major changes, Lowell said, are that the potential lift stations originally proposed for Falmouthport neighborhood will now be served by grinder pumps. Lowell said this design change will reduce the overall project cost by $2 million, which will decrease the betterment costs for all.
