CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WENY) -- The Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America announced Thursday that its 29th anniversary ride raised $1.4 million to send kids in need to a summer camp in North Carolina.
This year, 125 people taking part in the charity ride traveled over 1,400 miles from Traverse City, Michigan to Hot Springs, Virginia. Riders taking part in the fundraiser stopped in Corning and Watkins Glen on May 7. Celebrities who joined the ride this year included former NASCAR drivers Richard Petty and Kenny Wallace, along with Heisman winner Hershel Walker and others.
