CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Scenes of the new movie "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence" was shot in downtown Chula Vista Thursday.
Production crews and actors shot scenes for the fifth installment of the series which portrays mutated tomatoes attacking humans.
“Tomatoes was the first thing I thought of,” creator Costa Dillon said. “So we ran with people getting eaten by bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches.”
Dillon is one of three creators who are all graduates of Bonita Vista High School.
The original movie debuted in 1978.
“It’s a dream come true! I always want so many more productions to be in San Diego,” said San Diego State University graduate Noor Razooky, who plays a marine biologist in the new movie.
Movie production will wrap this weekend.
