SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Two people, including an elderly woman, were taken to the hospital following a house fire on Otisco Street in Syracuse.
Crews from the Syracuse Fire Department arrived just before 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 5 to find heavy smoke coming from the residence. A neighbor reportedly ran into the house to ensure everyone was evacuated, firefighters said.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the kitchen and successfully extinguished it. The fire was out in about 10 minutes.
Investigators with the Syracuse Fire Department say the fire was caused by an unattended stove which was heating food in a first-floor apartment.
