A six-run deficit was too much to overcome for the Ridgefield Raptors in a 6-4 loss to the Marion Berries on Thursday at Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex.

The Raptors (2-4), who were held to three hits in the defeat, scored all four of their runs during an eighth-inning rally sparked by a Berries error that allowed Evan Jaquez to score.

Jordan Hockett followed with a two-run double and scored from a Noah Karliner sacrifice fly, but the Raptors were unable to add to the lead with two outs.

Marion starter Taylor Brenneman shut down the Raptors’ bats over six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts and one walk, during which the Berries built a 6-0 lead.

Anthony Cepeda led the Berries with a 2-for-4 effort and two runs scored.
