(KRON) -- An East Bay city's strategy to improve its marketing campaigns is raising some eyebrows.

The Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce has started tracking visitors to the city and some people say that they are worried about privacy.

CEO and President of Walnut Creek’s Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Bureau Bob Linscheid says using enable location services on people's devices will help the city manage where to allocate their resources.

He says he understands privacy concerns, but emphasizes all data remains anonymous and is not shared outside the organization.

Others are more critical, already turning off their location services.
